Scholarship Opportunity

Liberated Montessori Education is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created to do our part in helping underrepresented communities have access to high-quality early Montessori education.

Lee’s Fund

For the past ten years, Liberated has been providing high-fidelity Montessori education and care to children under 6 years old, and we are now thrilled to announce Lee’s Fund, our Primary Scholarship for children ages 3 to 6 years old.

Lee’s Fund has been established to support and uplift those who have been systemically disadvantaged and marginalized.  It provides a unique opportunity to close achievement gaps for children from less-privileged circumstances by equipping them with the opportunity to thrive in an environment specially designed to meet their social, emotional, and developmental needs.

At Liberated, we strive to create communities that are intentionally diverse by building pathways for all children to access Montessori education.  At our schools, Guides are not only trained in Montessori philosophy, but also receive ongoing education on Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Anti-Racism.  We take a partnership approach to our work, and want to support, educate, and learn from families of all backgrounds.

This scholarship is intended for families from diverse circumstances for whom Liberated is a good fit philosophically, but for whom paying full tuition may be difficult.  Our goal is to work with families to bridge the gap between our standard full-day tuition and what is affordable to them, while, in the process, providing children the experience of an authentic Montessori environment during a vital time of rapid brain development.

Ideal candidates for this scholarship will have a genuine interest in Montessori and be able to express how and why they think their child will benefit from a Montessori early childhood program.  Lee’s Fund takes many factors into account, not just income.  Applicants will be given the opportunity during the application process to explain their circumstances, beyond the financials.  Ideal candidates may be:

  • Transgender and gender expansive parent(s) and/or children

  • LGBTQIA+ couples

  • Kinship caregivers, foster and adoptive parents

  • Black, Indigenous, and People of Color

  • Families suffering financial hardships

  • Single-parent households

  • Parents and/or children with disabilities (whether cognitive, emotional, developmental, or otherwise)

  • Anyone who is underrepresented, in the above-listed ways or others

Awards

Awards are offered in the form of tuition discounts.  Depending on your family’s needs, you may qualify for a discount between 25-75% off our standard monthly tuition.  The scholarship will be multi-year and renewed annually to allow your child to experience a complete cycle in the Primary classroom.  Applications will be accepted from May 10th to August 1st.  For each school year, we will offer between 5 and 10 awards.

Please note - for the 2023/2024 school year we are only able to offer scholarship awards at our new Oak Cliff campus. Scholarships for the White Rock campus will be announced for the following school year.

Steps to applying:

  1. Submit an Application and $25 Application Fee - The application will consist of a questionnaire, a short essay on why you believe Montessori will benefit your family, and will require a copy of your most recent tax returns and one utility bill to verify your address.

  2. Interview - Once your application has been reviewed, we will reach out to schedule a 30 minute video interview.

  3. In person tour and visit - We will then invite you to visit the school and meet our Guides.

  4. Award - You will be notified within 2 weeks of your interview if you have been selected to receive the Scholarship.  For privacy reasons, scholarship awardees will have the opportunity to decide whether or not they would like to be announced.
