Meals at Liberated

Food plays an important role at Liberated, for several reasons, all of which are deeply rooted in the Montessori philosophy.

Nutritional Health & Holistic Development

As Montessori educators, we recognize that proper nutrition is essential for children's physical health and well-being. Providing nutritious meals and snacks supports children's growth and development, boosts their immune systems, and helps them maintain optimal energy levels throughout the day. Healthy eating habits are integral to supporting this holistic approach, as they contribute to children's overall health and vitality.

Independence and Self-Care Skills

At Liberated, children are encouraged to develop independence and self-care skills from a young age. Involving children in tasks related to food preparation, such as setting the table, washing fruits and vegetables, and serving themselves during meal times, fosters independence, autonomy, and a sense of responsibility.

Cultural Awareness & Respect

Our programs promote respect for cultural diversity and encourages children to develop an appreciation for different customs, traditions, and cuisines from around the world. Exposing children to a variety of foods and mealtime practices helps broaden their cultural awareness and understanding.

Sensory Exploration & Practical Life Skills

The Montessori approach emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning and encourages children to engage their senses to explore the world around them. Meal times provide opportunities for sensory exploration through tasting, smelling, touching, and observing different foods. Additionally, engaging in food-related tasks such as chopping, stirring, and pouring develops fine motor skills and enhances children's practical life skills.

Community Building & Social Skills

Sharing meals together fosters a sense of community and belonging within our classrooms while also allowing children to practice social skills such as communication, cooperation, and table manners as they engage in conversation, take turns, and learn to respect each other's needs and preferences.
