Our Primary Classroom
Carol Duverges, Lead Guide
Carol was born and raised in beautiful Brazil. She left her home country nine years ago to pursue a life in the United States. Carol comes from a family of immigrants, and learned at an early age how to appreciate and celebrate the beauty of different cultures.
Working with children brings Carol the greatest joy and fulfillment. She believes that the first six years of a child’s life will shape his personality. For this reason, her goal is to be the best early childhood teacher she can, and the Montessori methodology allows her to perform her job with great quality. Being fluent in Spanish, Carol brings a dual-language component to our Primary classroom.
In her free time Carol enjoys reading, going to the movies, hanging out with friends, and laughing.
Carol holds a 3-6 Montessori diploma, and is currently working towards a second 3-6 Montessori certification at the prestigious June Shelton School.
Our Toddler Classroom
Cristina Ballard, Lead Guide
Cristina's Montessori journey became more concrete after college when she married and had her first child. Having had years of experience working with children, she was already acquainted with the philosophy, but having her first son catapulted her interest into a passion, prompting her to pursue a career in Montessori education.
Cristina is grateful to serve young children through a method that is faithful to their natural development by way of its scientific approach.
Being fluent in Spanish, Cristina brings a dual-language component to our Toddler classroom.
Cristina has five years of experience as a Montessori Guide and is currently enrolled in the Assistants to Infancy training course offered by the prestigious Montessori Institute of North Texas.
Margaret Lyman, Assistant Guide
Margaret retired as a Montessori Guide after 23 years, but just can’t stay away from the classroom. She holds an AMS Elementary certificate, an AMI Primary Diploma, and a certificate as an AMI Assistants to Infancy Toddler assistant. She also has a Masters of Education in Special Education.
Margaret lives in Little Forest Hills, where in her spare time, she enjoys reading, theatre, spending time with her grandchildren, and making Montessori environments beautiful.
Michelle Lowry, Lead Guide
Michelle started her journey as an educator almost 10 years ago. She was first exposed to the Montessori Method at the school where both her son and daughter attended. With a background in science, it was easy for her to embrace the value of the philosophy and, soon after, she decided to pursue a lifelong career dedicated to teaching young children.
She obtained her first Montessori Teaching Certificate for Children’s House (3-6) from Collin College. She quickly found her calling though as a Guide for both Infant and Toddlers. She then obtained her AMI Assistant Certificate for A to I (0-3) from the Montessori Institute of North Texas. She has returned to M.I.N.T. to receive her full Assistants to Infancy diploma.
Michelle’s reverence for working in the Nido environment stems from her belief that infancy is the most important and precious stage of life. She comes to us with a wealth of knowledge in early childhood development and is also well educated in gardening and nutrition.
Outside of school she enjoys photography and playing soccer with her children.
